ABOUT US
WHO ARE THE FIRE?
The FIRE Soccer Club is a player-centered soccer club based in the Howard, Suamico and Pulaski area. It is organized and operated by experienced and forward thinking volunteers who are trained in player development and who truly believe that the players in our area deserve more from their soccer club.

FIRE SOCCER'S MISSION STATEMENT
Igniting a love of soccer throughout our community.

FIRE SOCCER'S PHILOSOPHY
We believe that local soccer organizations play a fundamental role in the on-going evolution of soccer in Wisconsin and the United States. We take that role seriously and will endeavor to provide quality curriculum based programs and resources that move motivated players along the player-development continuum. At the same time, we understand that children participate in youth soccer for a variety of reasons.  We have a duty to the community to offer fun programs that encourage, excite, and energize every player, regardless of ability.

We recognize that the most important aspect of youth sports is the opportunity to teach important life-lessons to impressionable children both on and off the field. All players have the opportunity to benefit from the values taught through teamwork, effort, responsibility, and commitment. We want our players to do the best they can in life as well as in soccer.

We understand that children learn from and are influenced by the adults involved in our organization. Accordingly we demand the highest standard of behavior from every board member, director, staff member, coach, and volunteer.  We want all adults to make the game of soccer easy to learn, and fun for all.
HOW'S THE FIRE DIFFERENT?
  • We focus on the individual player's development and what they need to succeed in the long-term, not on what the team needs to win today.
  • We know that player development is a long-term process and soccer is a late specialization sport.  Players will not reach their peak until well into their twenties.
  • We understand that FUN is paramount to player development at all levels.
  • We understand that it is simply not possible to determine which players will and wont be successful players at the younger ages. Therefore we will develop as many players as possible to ensure that all players who want to play get the opportunity to do so.
  • We understand that players who "ride the bench" do not develop.  Every FIRE player will play in every game (unless subject to league or club discipline) regardless of the level of team they play on.
  • We understand that in order to develop players we must maximize their touches on the ball. By utilizing smaller rosters it will give each player the time they need to develop and gain confidence.
  • We understand that well-rounded players must understand the importance and function of all positions. To do that, they must play different positions on an ongoing and regular basis. Pigeonholing a child into a position before they have been given the opportunity to play and understand all of the positions will be detrimental to their development and likely to their future success as a player.
  • We understand that education is paramount to ensuring that we are providing the best environment we can for the players. HFC will prioritize continuing education for coaches, administrators and families.
'If you want to raise the level of the elite player, then you must raise the level of the average player.'
